Dr Tan recently resigned as the Chairman of the Ng Teng Fong Hospital because he was against the naming of the hospital. He is a man of principle. He is one of the few MP who secured over 80% of the people's votes during elections.
There are many people expressing their views and desires at Channel News Asia forum (see link below) that he should be the next elected President of Singapore.
I support the views. Let's get more people to propose this and hope that he will heed the voice of the people and come out to stand for election as the next President of Singapore.
Many of us never have a chance to vote for our Member of Parliament because of the GRC system. We should not allow the President to be appointed/nominaed by the government. That will defeat the purpose of having an Elected President.

As usual, The Govt will put up its preferred candidate for Prez. So let's hope Dr Tan stands for Prez election as an independent candidate. This will ensure that there will be a contest , as it should be, seeing that the post is called "ELECTED PRESIDENT". After 2 walkovers, we must not have another one. Otherwise, it will make a mockery of term "ELECTED PRESIDENT".
